Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect at my first visit?
Your first visit will last an hour. We will meet with you in our consultation room to go over paperwork and answer any questions you have about light therapy. After we are finished with your consulation, we will go into the therapy room to start your session. It’s important to be quiet in the therapy room so we don’t interfere with other clients who are using the lights. We will place the light pads directly on your skin, in various areas depending on what issues we are addressing. Once the light session is over, we remove the pads and you are free to go.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Why? Because we place the pads directly on your skin. Don’t worry, there is no need to undress and we disinfect the pads after each session.
What should I expect after my session?
Everyone responds differently. Some experience immediate relief, while others take several sessions to notice a change. It’s important to understand that light therapy isn’t a miracle, overnight cure. Typically, when we are working on an acute condition, the body responds quickly. If we are working on a chronic condition, people tend to see improvements gradually.
How long is a session?
The initial consultation is about an hour. Every session thereafter is 30 minutes.
Does it hurt?
Absolutely not. It’s a calming and relaxing experience. Because light therapy puts your body in a parasympathetic state, most people fall asleep during their session.
How often can I do Light Therapy?
It is safe to do every 6 hours. For optimal results, it’s recommended you do 3 sessions a week.
How many sessions do I need to see or feel results?
It varies from person to person, depending on whether the condition is acute or chronic. Some people experience immediate relief, while others may take several sessions.
Are there any side effects?
There are no negative side effects. No adverse reactions have ever been reported to the Federal Drug Administration.
Are the pads safe to use on animals?
Yes! Light therapy has been shown to be effective for canine pain therapy and for relieving pain and healing injuries in sport horses.
Is Light Therapy safe for use on children?
Absolutely! The amount of time we use the lights on children is calculated based on their age.
What form of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check, credit cards, as well as health savings account. We do not bill insurance at this time.
Does insurance cover Light Therapy?
Some insurance companies cover light therapy, so it is important to check with your provider to determine coverage. Payment is expected at the time of service. We are happy to provide you with an invoice to submit to insurance for reimbursement, when requested.
How can I get the lights in my home?
We have several system packages available to purchase for your home use. We also have a rental program with prices starting at $200 a week.
