The Different Types of Light Therapy Systems | Healing Modalities

Updated: Feb 4, 2022

The Different types of light therapy equipment with pads from InLight

Hey there! I promised that I would talk about the different types of Light Therapy systems that are out there.

When I started researching all the different modalities of Light Therapy, I realized that there are SO many different modalities out there. Which is crazy cool because that just shows me, and hopefully it shows you too, all the healing benefits that light therapy gives us. It gives your cells the information that it needs to heal itself which is awesome!

Today I am going to talk about three specific different types of delivery systems. The first one is called The Panel, the second one is called a Light Pod, and the third one is called a Pad System. The panel is literally a panel that’s anywhere from 2 - 4 inches thick and they come in various sizes – this can even be large enough that the panel covers your whole body. This is how big those panels can get. I’ve seen people set them on a table, and pictures and photos of them being placed up on the wall.

With this modality you have to be unclothed in order to receive the delivery of the light wavelengths and you need to wear eye protection. This also means that you can be sitting to do your Light Therapy or standing for this panel system. Whatever the light is touching is going to receive the benefits. So, if you have hamstring, back issues, neck issues, etc. you’ll have to turn around and face away from the panel to receive the benefits of the light therapy. There are some people who swear by the system, but personally it doesn’t sound as comfortable to me.

The next system is the Light Pod System which looks like a giant tanning bed. Again, you need to be unclothed and again you need to wear eye protection for this system. The Pod System more relaxing where you can just lay flat and receive red light therapy. For transparency, to own one of these in your home, the really good ones start at $50,000. I don’t know about you, but that’s a little out of my price range. A lot of people swear by this system and it may be the perfect fit for you.

Now my favorite is the pad system which is a lot more affordable and balances out all of the different options. What I really like about the pad system is that you can actually wrap the pads around your joints, around your head, your shoulders, elbows, etc. and focus on any type of issues that you have. You can place the pads directly on your skin underneath your clothing. You don’t have to be unclothed; you don’t have to wear eye protection. I guess you’re sensing that I like the pad system best. This is what works really well for my family. Though I want you to find what works best for you and your family!

Another great benefit of the pad system is that I can take it traveling. The pads are flexible, it’s small, I can put it in my carry-on bag with no problem. But, with a Light Pod as well as a panel system. You aren’t able to take it traveling with you. And maybe that’s no problem. Personally, I like to take my system with me.

Beyond that, the panel and pod systems don’t have different configurations for specific issues that you are dealing with. While the pad system can target certain areas and I think that is phenomenal!

So this is some additional information about the different types of equipment that you can use with Light Therapy.

I hope this helps you find what works best for you and your family! If you have any questions, please let me know below!
